Ben Casteel

Ben Casteel is a proud Appalachian native from Bristol. He was first introduced to the physical practice of Yoga while earning his undergradate degree at Prescott College in Prescott, Arizona as part of a seminar on Yoga and Rock Climbing. While there, he studied agroecology and adventure education and had the good fortune of being able to travel throughout the wilds of the West. His heart lay at home, though, and he returned back to the Appalachian Mountains to farm. Shortly after his return, Whitetop Yoga opened, and Ben was curious of the benefits that could be bestowed through a physical practice to the farmer's way of life. He then started teaching horticulture full-time at Virginia Highlands Community College, a job that would require him to also complete a Master's program. He was able to find solace from the day to day stress of teaching and schooling in the practice of meditation. Later, while recovering from a broken leg, he found therapy in the physical and mental practice of Yoga and knew that he had to share it with others. Ben recently graduated with his 200 RYT in 2018.
